Lloyd L. Minger, 88, of Monticello , died at 3:10 am, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital . He was born on December 18, 1924 in Dexter , MO to the late Walter and Pearl J. (Edwards) Minger. He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Mary (Formoso) Minger. They were married on July 6, 1946 in Chicago , IL . Lloyd was a member of the First Baptist Church, Monticello and a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany during World War II. He was a carpenter for U.S. Steel and worked at a Standard Service Station in Chicago for a number of years. He moved to Monticello in 1971, where he managed Owens Gas Station until he opened his own service station on 6th Street. Lloyd has been in failing health since 2004. He is also survived by his two daughters, Linda (John) Miller of Monticello and Deborah (Lloyd) Carnahan of Monticello; one sister, Betty (Robert) Wolf of Monticello; 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son David Minger; and two sisters, Helen Amarino and Thelma Byrnes. Visitation will be held 4 - 8 pm, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, May 17, 2013 at the funeral home with Rev. Ryan Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Remington Cemetery.
