Lemuel R. 'Whimpy' Richardson

Lemuel R. "Whimpy" Richardson, 74, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 2:25 pm at the home of Vicki Leonard, his sister. He was born March 1, 1935 in French Lick, IN to Ephraim and Grace (Dixon) Richardson. His first marriage was to Connie (Douglass) Richardson, she survives. His second marriage was to Shelia (Young) Richardson, she survives. Mr. Richardson served in the Army from 1954 to 1960. After serving the Army he then joined the National Guard. He worked at NAPA Auto parts and Tall Timbers Marina. He also was employed at several other local businesses. He was a member of Libanus Masonic Lodge #154 F&AM and the American Legion. Mr. Richardson also belonged to the Shrine. He played "Santa" for several families and businesses. He enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his Daughter, Darcy K. Varda of Monticello, IN; Son, Doug R. Richardson of Tarzana, CA; 2 Sisters, Billie (Carlos) Jeffries of Monticello, In, Vicki (Gary) Leonard of Monticello, IN; Several Nieces and Nephews He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: James and Freddie Richardson and one sister: Patricia Jeffries. Burial will take place at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rural Monticello. Visitation will take place from 5pm to 9pm Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:30pm. Funeral services will take place at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2 pm. with the Pastor Ross Terry officiating.
