Levere D. Dannie Danford, 87, of Monticello died at 5:18 am, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Logansport Memorial Hospital. He was born November 4, 1921 in Buffalo to the late Oliver and Agnus (Brutus) Danford. His marriage was to Alice M. Martin on July 10, 1941 in Lafayette. She preceded him in death on September 14, 1991. Mr. Danford attended Lafayette Jeff High School and also West Lafayette Schools. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp and served during World War II. He was employed as a Federal Civil Servant and worked at Chanute Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic and flight test engineer for 17 years. He worked 10 years at U.S. Aviation System Command in St. Louis as an industrial specialist. He worked 3 years at Defense Contract Administration Services as an industrial specialist. After his retirement, he worked at ALCOA in Lafayette. He had been a deputy coroner in Vermillion County, Illinois. He had been President of both the grade and high school PTA in Potomac, IL. He had been a member of the Illinois Law Enforcement and Detective Associations, a life member of the American Legion Post 81, Monticello, Monticello Moose, Monon Eagles, and White County Council on Aging. Survivors include: Daughter, Nina Garrison of Idaville; Two Grandchildren; and Five Great-Grandchildren He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one brother Visitation be from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 27 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev.
