Larry Hartman

Larry "Bushy" Hartman, 68, of Monticello, passed away peacefully at his home in rural Monon on Sunday, April 9, 2017 after an extended battle with cancer.Larry graduated from West Lafayette High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Alaska as a mechanic with the motor pool. After the Army, he was a mechanic for Higman Racing Team. He traveled all around the United States with them. He had a lifelong interest in racing. He continued to work in the automotive field in the parts departments of various car dealerships and later for Standard Auto Parts where he had a traveling route. After retirement, he was active in Amvets Post 91 and served on the Monticello Veterans' Honor Guard. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Miller Hartman Koeppen; his brothers, Carl (Nancy) Hartman of rural Delphi, Merrell (Betty) Hartman of Lafayette, Darrell (Judy) Hartman of Indianapolis and Charles W. Koeppen, IV of Shady Point, Oklahoma; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to thank Anne Patry for her care of Larry in his final months and the Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their dedicated work to enable him to pass peacefully at home.Memorial services celebrating Larry's life will be a 1 pm, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello commencing with full military rites rendered by the Monticello Veterans' Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.Messages of condolence may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
