Kimberly Flora Plantenga, 53, of Monticello, died at 11am on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the home of her sister in West Lafayette. She was born August 26, 1959 in Lafayette to the late Dr. G. Dudley and Betty Lou (Hiner) Flora. They preceded her in death. She married Michael Plantenga on September 4, 1982. They later divorced in 1987. She was a 1977 graduate of West Central High School. She also graduated from Purdue University with a BS degree in 1979. She had worked at State and Savings bank for five years prior to becoming employed by the Department of Child Services as a family case manager in 1991. She remained there until her illness in 2012. She was a former member of the White and Carroll County Crime Stoppers, the White County Board of Health, and the Kiwanis club. She was a current member of the American Legion Post 91. Kimberly enjoyed bridge and ballroom dancing. She adored her grandchildren and was blessed with a wonderful family and special friends. She is survived by a son, Nathan Ryan (Rachael) Plantenga of Monticello; sister, Leslie (Kevin) Weaver of West Lafayette; brother, Kevin (Brenda) Flora of Collierville, TN; grandson, Harvey James Plantenga; and a granddaughter, Clara Luck Plantenga. Visitation will be from 6pm until 9pm, Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be 10 am, Friday at the funeral home with Chaplain Scott Ellison officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
