Keith Eugene McCloud, 94, of Monticello died at White Oak. Keith lived at White Oak for 16 months, making friends with staff and residents. All will miss his caring heart. He passed away at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday October 2, 2024.
He was born May 7, 1930, to Oscar and Avada McCloud. On September 17, 1947, he married his sweetheart, Katie McCloud. She proceeded him in death in 2004.
Keith was born on a milk farm in Buffalo, Indiana where he lived until the age of ten. After moving to Lafayette, he was trained in high school in what is now the lost art of typesetting. Keith then pursued additional training and certifications in auto mechanics before relocating to Monticello in 1964. After managing the local Sinclair gas station, he went on to manage the Monticello Moose Lodge where he and Katie made many lifelong friends. Keith held several state and national offices for the Moose Lodge and was a member for 60 years. Keith was a member of Masonic Lodge where he rose in rank and became a Master Mason. In retirement Keith thoroughly enjoyed reconditioning computers and donating them to others. Keith never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, where he served as a drive-in greeter for twelve years and helped cook for Soup for the Soul and Rainbow for fifteen years. His coleslaw and pickled beets were crowd favorites.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Katie McCloud (wife) whom he loved with all his heart, Kathy McCloud (daughter), Joey Walker (grandson), and twelve siblings.
He is survived by daughters, Jean McCloud Wallace (husband Richard) of Plymouth and Patty Godlove (husband Mike) of Monticello and grandchildren Robison Godlove (wife Dr. Dao Truong) of Petaluma, CA, Ashby Evans (wife Katie) Westfield, IN and Libby Godlove (husband Nathan Hazelwood) Dallas, TX and one great grandson Lucas Evans.
Funeral services celebrating Keith’s life will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello at 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 17,2024 with visitation one hour prior. Pastors Justin Cason and Brian Beeks will officiate.
Burial will follow for family at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Monticello United Methodist Church for Soup for Soul. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
