Kathryn I. O'Donnell

Kathryn O' Donnell, 77, of Lafayette, passed away at 1:45 pm, Monday, October 10, 2016 at her residence.She was born on September 4, 1939 in Chicago to the late John Joseph and Catherine (Patterson) Fennell. On November 9, 1979 she married Hugh R. O'Donnell in Chicago and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1998.She graduated fromVocational High School in Chicago. She worked as a secretary at Common Wealth Edison in Chicago from which she retired. Once she moved to Monticello she worked as the parish secretary at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church for many years. She volunteered at the Emmaus House in Lafayette.She was an avid reader. She enjoyed crafts of all types especially knitting, crocheting, sewing, needle point and acrylic and watercolor painting. She was an excellent cook, however, some of her experimental recipes left a little to be desired. She was known for her spritz cookies. Her family described her as a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cousin.She is survived by her children, Ann T. O' Donnell of Lafayette, Daniel P. (Ann T.) O'Donnell of Chicago, Elizabeth (Charles) Patterson of Carbondale, IL, Hugh O'Donnell Jr. of Chicago, Deborah (Robert) Cooper of Redding, CA; grandchildren, Norah, Hugh, Nick, Natalie, Elizabeth, Thomas, Daniel, Erin; and great-grandchildren, Izzy, Veronica, and Katalina.She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack (wife, Marilyn) Fennell, and sisters, Patricia Hughes and Elizabeth O'Donnell.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am (10am CT), Friday at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Fr. David Rasner celebrating.Then on Saturday, the family will receive friends from noon until 4:00 pm for a time of visitation at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
