Joseph J. Martin, 92, of Monticello, passed away at 2:17 pm, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.He was born on December 5, 1924 in Chicago to the late Fred and Helen (Woida) Martin. On October 28, 1950 he married Gloria Jaskowiak. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2011.Joseph was a WWII Navy Veteran. He attended Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and St. Timothy Catholic Church in The Villages, FL. He worked as an electrician. Joseph was a 70 year IBEW Union-Chicago member. He was a golfer and made two holes in one. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, cribbage and bridge. Joseph was an avid and proud Chicago Cubs fan, especially after winning the World Series. He was a huge Norte Dame football fan. Joseph loved going to the casino and also enjoyed bingo and happy hour at White Oak Health Campus. He cherished time spent with his family. He was totally devoted to his wife Gloria.He is survived by four children, Thomas L. (Karen) Martin of Parkville, MO, Kathleen A. (James) Paryl of Lombard, IL Jo Ellyn Brockmeyer of Monticello and Cynthia L. (Barry) Ries of Montello, WI; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by a son, Philip J. Martin; and two brothers, Richard and William Martin. Burial will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church or IU Health White Memorial Foundation.
