John Robert Potts "Pottsie", 67, of Monticello, passed away at 11:15 am, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at his residence in Monticello.He was born on October 1, 1948 in Lafayette to the late Chester and Venita "Toots" (Farrel) Potts.His first marriage was to Pam Potts, she preceded him in death in 1978. His second marriage was to Marjorie Riley in 1989 in Brookston, IN. She survives in Monticello.Pottsie went to St. Joseph Catholic School in Kentland from grades first to eighth. He then attended South Newton High School. Pottsie worked for White County Memorial Hospital in maintenance for over 10 years. He managed the Illinois Street Car Wash, and was the custodian and grounds keeper for Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church for numerous years. Pottsie loved farming with his family. He loved nature, gardening and feeding the birds. He was an avid fan of fast pitch softball, the NFL and Big Ten Football.He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Rodgers of Camden and Tracy (Kevin C.) Christensen, Jr of Delphi; two brothers, Don Potts of Goodland and Tom (Mary Lou) Potts of Rensselaer; one sister, Janet Coffey of LaVerge, TN; five grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and twelve nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, May 23, 2016 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Rosary will be prayed at 3:45 pm.Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home with Father David Rasner of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church officiating.Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Goodland, Indiana.Memorial contributions may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to United Cerebral Palsy.
