John Richard Zartman, 78 of Clearwater, FL, died Saturday, February 27, 2010. He was born April 25, 1931 in Galveston, Indiana to the late Clarence Richard and Mary May (Ehrman) Zartman He married Marilyn ( Koontz) Zartman on July 8, 1954 in Monticello. She survives in Clearwater, Florida. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1949. He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant after graduating from West Point Military Academy. Colonel Zartman was a fighter pilot for 30 years, retiring as a Full Colonel from the U.S. Air Force. He was a Vice-Wing and Wing Commander of the RF-4 Fighters. He was a starting Full Back for the football team and starting forward for the basketball team at Delphi High School. During his senior year of College he was Captain of his Soccer Team. He was a member and Head Usher of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Clearwater, Florida. He was a very dedicated and outstanding husband and father and a very avid golfer. He is also survived by 2 Daughters, Susan (Jeff) Johnson of Collierville, TN, Beth (Wes) Warren of Chesterfield, MO; Son, David (Tacy) Zartman of Huntersville, NC; 8 Grandchildren A graveside service will be held at Riverview IOOF Cemetery, in rural Monticello on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 11:00 am. with Full Military Honors.
