John Joseph Fennell

John Joseph Fennell the great, was born to John & Irene on 9/5/24. With his sisters Pat(Bill Hughes), Betty (Hugh O'Donnell), all deceased, and Katherine (Hugh O'Donnell), grew up in Chicago. He graduated from Calumet High to the great relief of his parents and teachers. He spent 2 1/2 years in the So. Pacific. When he returned home from WW II, he went to work for Ma Bell and married Marilyn Goyer. They raised their children John (Myong), Joe (Carol), Ed (Laura), Pat (Will Major), Lynn (Wayne Woosely), Mike (Kathy), Kate (Rick Kotora), Tim (Lynette), & the late Christopher Robin, in the house that Jack built in Darien IL. Jack was involved in his Church, Cursillo, and in starting a small faith community in which he was active until he died. He retired to the cottage in Monticello IN, where he enjoyed his children, 22 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren while enjoying his great love-fishing. Jack was a life long Democrat, a curmudgeon of note, a loyal friend, a passionate critic of injustice and pretension, gardener, builder, storyteller. Even though he suffered from poor health in his later years he was still able to do the Muskie Mombo and fish the lakes of Heyward WI every summer with his sons and their sons. He loved his family, his dogs, and his fishing boats-not necessarily in that order. We will tell his stories always. Good night dear heart, we love you.
