Jimmie E. Hunt, 88, of Idaville, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025 at his home in Idaville.
He was born on June 7, 1936 at the family farm in Idaville to the late Charles and Blanch (Burns) Hunt. He married the former Bettie Kyburz on February 21, 1959 in the original Christian Church in Monticello. Bettie preceded Jimmie in death on October 29, 2022.
Jimmie was a 1954 graduate of Idaville High School and graduated from Indiana Business College in Logansport. He worked for Idaville Feed Store now Hanenkratt Grain Co. Inc. where he retired as the store manager. After his retirement, he went to work at Walmart in the garden center for several years. He was a 4-H leader and enjoyed raising sheep with his children when they were young. He was an extremely particular master gardener, an avid fan of I.U. sports and also of the Chicago Cubs. He was the statistician for the Idaville Tractor Pull. He loved math, numbers, and about any genre of puzzle books. He cherished his family and his family cherished him and said, "He was a hard working man and a good provider. He was a man of strong conviction and faith and was a dedicated member of Sitka Baptist Church".
He is survived by daughters, Debbie (David) McClaine of Monticello and Donna (Russ) DeArmond of Remington; daughter-in-law, Flo Hunt of Idaville; grandchildren, Polly (Gabe) Deno, Heidi Funk, Tyler (Relisa) Funk, Alicia (Cameron) Fischer, and Tanner Hayden; numerous great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister in California.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bettie he was preceded in death by his son, David Hunt; and seven siblings.
Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Funeral services celebrating Jimmie's life will be at 10:30 am Saturday at the funeral home with Dr. James Elliott of Sitka Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Idaville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Sitka Baptist Church or to the Idaville Volunteer Fire Department with envelopes available at the funeral home.
