Janell Anne Powell

Janell Anne Powell, 68, of Monticello, passed away at 8:00 am, Thursday, March 8, 2018.She was born on June 12, 1949 in Lafayette to the late Clarence E. and H. Lois (Biddle) Miller. On October 21, 1973, in Lafayette, she married the love of her life, Donald Powell and he survives.Janell was graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and worked in production at Duncan Meters. She was a devoted wife and lovingly cared for her husband, Donald as his dementia slowly robbed them of their blissful lives. Janell was a homebody and cherished times spent fishing and boating on the lake. She enjoyed meticulously caring for their home and could fix anything. She worked on their cars, boats, and enjoyed doing multiple repairs to their home. She had a tender and generous heart and would never turn away a stray animal.She also enjoyed the occasional trip to town to play BINGO at the Knights of Columbus.She was a life member of the Amvets and VFW auxiliaries.In addition to her husband, Donald, surviving are her siblings, Leslie (Judy) Miller of Oregon, David Miller of Lebanon, Alan (Ann) Miller of Lafayette, and Glenna (Mike) Cole of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Mikey.A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to Happy Tails or to a humane society of the donor's choice.
