"Dr. James Donald Weilhammer, 78, passed away in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday, September 15, 2017, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Dr. Weilhammer is survived by his wife, Katherine Kamiya; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his five children: Eva, Kelley, Stephanie, James, and Nicholas; a niece and nephew; a brother-in law; and numerous cousins.
A longtime dentist of Monticello, Indiana; Moultrie, Georgia; and Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia, his last and favorite position. Dr. Weilhammer enjoyed his family, the outdoors, camping in his beloved Airstream, his church, a good practical joke, and almost every creature on earth, except squirrels.
It was his wish not to have a wake or funeral and to be interned in Indiana next to his son. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in Tallahassee at a future date. A graveside service in Monticello will also be scheduled. Memorial gifts may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church or the Big Bend Hospice House both in Tallahassee.
