James Alpha

James J. "Jim" Alpha, 74, of Monticello, died at 12:06 pm, Monday, March 22, 2010 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1935 at Shelbyville, Indiana to the late John C. and Loraine (Lowe) Alpha. His marriage was to Patricia Speer on October 17, 1956 in Monticello. She preceded him in death December, 7, 1999. Mr. Alpha was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired as a cabinet maker from RCA, and also retired from Monticello Spring. In past years, he had been a member of the VFW, and also of the Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and carpentry. He is survived by 2 sons, Christopher (Kelly) Alpha of Lafayette, Bruce J. Alpha of Valparaiso; daughter, Cathy (Drew) Pfeiffer of Wolcott; 1 granddaughter; and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 pm until the time of services at 3 pm, Thursday, March 25, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Pastor Mearl Hodges will officiate. Burial will follow at Yeoman Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
