James A. 'Jim' Hicks

James A. " Jim" Hicks, 78, of Monticello, passed away at 10:15 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on March 30, 1935 in Lafayette to the late Veril Virgil and Goldia Mae (Waymire)Hicks, Sr. His marriage was to Loretta Johnson on September 19, 1969 at the First Baptist Church in Monticello. She Survives. Mr. Hicks worked in Bridge Construction and retired from Wirtz and Yates, Kentland, IN. He considered the First Baptist Church to be his church home. He enjoyed flowers, gardening, woodworking, photography, and his dogs. He was very artistic. He liked and made American Indian ceramics. Mr. Hicks was very comical and liked to tell stories. His friends often referred to him as Fibber McGee. Madson of Royal Center, IN, Jody (John) Franceschina of Delphi, IN 2 Brothers, Tommy (Nancy) Hicks of Lafayette, IN, Fred Hicks of Lafayette, IN 2 Sisters, Shirley (Albert) Coblentz of Lafayette, IN, Virginia L. Hoskins of Lafayette, IN Several Grandchildren, Several Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandson He is preceded in death by his: Parents; One Son, Randy Hicks; 2 Brothers; and 1 Sister Visitation has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, December 20 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Mark Hines officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello.
