Ira W. 'Bill' Spear

Ira W. "Bill" Spear, 82, of Monticello, died at 9:47 pm, Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at I.U Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. He was born in White County on November 10, 1930 to the late Dellus and Dorothy (Raines) Spear. He was a high school graduate and worked at Peters Revington in Delphi, from which he retired. He was a veteran of the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He had been a member of the AMVETS and Eagles, both of Monticello. He enjoyed NASCAR, tinkering with his mower, putzing around the house, and hanging out at Owen's Machine Shop. He is survived by 7 sons, Troy (Tammy) Spear of Monticello, Paul (Pam) Spear of Lafayette, Dennis Spear of Monticello, Tony Spear of Chalmers, Jack Spear of Lafayette, Tracy (Tabitha) Spear of Monticello, Corey (Calley) Spear of Monticello; 2 daughters, Debra Wright of Lafayette, Loris Woodcock of Monticello; 1 sister, Shirley Spear of Lafayette; 1 brother Willard Spear of Indianapolis; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents;1 brother; and 3 sisters. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, September 23, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will commence with military rites at 7:00 pm, immediately following the visitation. Pastor Tom Bennet will officiate services.
