High W. McKinley, 98, of Monticello, formerly of Flora passed away at 4:55 pm, Friday, July 8, 2016 at Lakeview Village in Monticello.He was born on January 17, 1918 in Deer Creek to the late David and Lenna (High) McKinley. On November 29, 1943, in San Antonio, TX he married the former Reola B. Carter and she preceded him in death in March of 1991.High was a 1938 graduate of Flora High School and of International Journeyman's Barber College. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, France, and England during World War II. High had been a cook in the army, a position he was very proud of. Over his lifetime, he also worked as a butcher, barber, and as a machine operator for Delco Electronics, Kokomo, from which he retired in 1980.High was an active and committed member of the Flora Church of the Brethren where he served as a greeter, an usher, was adopted as the "Candyman", and played on the church dart ball team. High was involved with Carroll County Dart Ball for over 40 years. He was proud to have been honored as man of the week at the church. He also attended the Baptist Church in Flora.He was also a member of the Flora American Legion, and a former member of UAW Local 292 of Kokomo. He is survived by a daughter, Pam (spouse, Dave) Hensley of Monticello; siblings, Dean (spouse, Judy) McKinley of Inverness, FL, Earl (spouse, Janet) McKinley of North Manchester, Maryellen Riccardi of Logansport, Dorothy Seifert of New Albany; grandchildren, Jon Sines (spouse, Tanya Hughes) of Chalmers, Jay Sines of Louisville, KY, Jimmy (spouse, Anna) Sines of North Aurora, IL; step-grandchildren, Melissa (spouse, Terri) Hensley of Denver, CO, John (spouse, Jodi) Hensley of Indianapolis, Ann Hensley (spouse, Becky Rudolph) of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Katy, Chase, Owen, Jacob, and Caroline.He was also preceded in death by brothers, Mills and Emerson McKinley; and sister, Lottie Scott.Visitation will be from 12:00 pm (EDT) until 2:00 pm (EDT) Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Graveside services celebrating High's life will be at 3:00 pm (EDT), Wednesday at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora with Rev.
