Helen Mae Simon,84, of Monticello passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 2:27 a.m. at her residence. She was born on March 15, 1924 in Avery, Indiana to Roy M. and Eunice (Pettiner) Connaway. She married Eugene C. Simon on July 23, 1948 in Frankfort, IN. He passed away on January 16, 2006. He was the former owner of Simon Electric. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1942. Mrs. Simon was invloved in different aspects of Homecare all of her life. Mrs. Simon was a member of the Monticello Christian Church. She was a past member of the Pesidative Club. She was also a member of the American Legion and Women of the Moose for 28 years where she served as treasurer, Jr. Regent and held the degree of Academy of Friendship. She loved word search books, flowers and her angel collection. She made party favors and enjoyed flower arranging. She loved to play cards, slot machine games and solitare on the computer. Mrs. Simon loved life and was a very selfless loving person. She is survived by her: Daughter, Penny Sue (Robert) Albaugh of Natalia, TX Brother, Donald Max (Betty Jo) Connaway of Deercreek, IN 2 Sisters, Betty Jayne (Bob) Peterson of Cutler, IN, Clara Marie Winslow of Kokomo, IN Sister-in-law, Betty Darlene Connaway of Geetingsville, IN. She is preceded in death by her: Husband; Parents; 3 Sisters: Lucille Allen, Mary Burns and Edith Forbes ;2 Brothers, Charles Connaway and Bob Connaway; Brother -in-law: Ed Winslow Visitation will be held at 4p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Thursday, February 19, 2009, 7:00p.m. There will be a Women of the Moose Service at 7 p.m. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
