Helen J. Wilson, 77, of Monticello, passed away at 1:24 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Monticello Healthcare.
She was born on May 23, 1942 in Francesville to the late Richard "Ted" and Lura (Weltzin) Myers.
She was a 1960 graduate of Francesville High School and attended Indiana Business College. She was most fond of her employment at RCA and enjoyed summers working at Shady Hill Raceway.
She grew up attending the Francesville First Christian Church. While in high school, Helen was a member of the high school band and was a majorette. Her parents owned a roller rink, and as a result, she had the opportunity to become an accomplished roller skater.
She was a hard worker and treasured time with her children when they were growing up. Her daughters remembered her spending time with them during the day, and with little sleep, she would head off to work the night shift at RCA. She and her young girls spent Saturdays at the Monticello City Pool and always ended the day with a trip to Pizza Hut. They giggled as they shared the story of her attempting to get a tan while mowing the lawn. She would wear her two-piece turquoise bikini, put on Hawaiian Tropic oil, grab a beer and she was ready.
She enjoyed 50's rock-n-roll music, playing the piano, cooking and baking, crocheting, playing cards, especially euchre, bingo, Yahtzee, fishing, vegetable gardening, puzzles, and reading. Halloween was one of her favorite holidays and hosted many memorable Halloween parties. She was fond of her morning cup of coffee and the opportunity to watch the hummingbirds. Above all, she cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Helen was an avid NASCAR fan with her favorite driver being Jeff Gordon, much to the dismay of her sisters.
Surviving are her daughters, Julie Myers of Lafayette, Jackie (Rick) Neuhaus of Farmington Hills, MI, and Kalli Wilson (companion, Justin Bedilion) of Monticello; her grandchildren, Josh Myers, Jenna Watkins, Devin Wilson, Catherine Neuhaus, James Neuhaus; great-grandchildren, Joslyn, Jayla, Joshy, Julian, Jay, Kari, and Khai; siblings, Richard Myers, II of Monticello, Jim Myers of Monon, and Rosie (Mike) Salyer of Francesville.
In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by sisters, Sue Allen, and Nina Davis.
