Harve Long, 82, of Monticello, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare. He was born June 8, 1926 in Tazewell, TN. Harve was raised by his grandparents, Red and Hattie Long. They are both deceased. His marriage was to Jan (Cleefman) Snowberger on June 28, 1972 in Tazewell, TN. She survives. Harve had worked for RCA for 12 years and worked for the Monticello Street Department from which he retired in 1991. He loved spending time with his wife. He enjoyed wood working, playing bingo, watching wrestling, and his cat Smokey. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: 3 Daughters, Glenda Peterson, AZ, Vicki (Dan) Hettinger of Monticello, Elizabeth VanVoorst of Idaville; 3 Sons, Raymond (Shirley) Long of Monticello, Scott Snowberger of Lafayette, Robert Snowberger of Lafayette; Aunt, Pauline Butcher, TN; 2 Brothers, Linville (Sue) Young of Winamac, Clayton Young of Tazewell, TN; 14 Grandchildren, Landon Snowberger, Devan Snowberger, Teegun Snowberger, Julian VanVoorst, Jason Blount, Aaron Perterson, Allen Hettinger, Nate Hettinger, Ona Snowberger, Ashley VanVoorst, Allison VanVoorst, Destiney Snowberger, Faith Snowberger, Gretchen Peterson; 6 Great-Grandchildren, Chantel Blount, Breanna Blount, Hayley Blount, Tiffany Cook, Warren Peterson, and Noah Cook. He is preceded in death by his Parents; Grandparents;and two brothers Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, June 29 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monday, June 30, 2008, 1 p.m. with Pastor Charles Blakey of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello. Memorial Donations may be made to St. James Luthern Church Day Care Building fund.
