Harold E. Lawson, 90, Lafayette, formerly of Monticello died at 3:18 am, Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at his residence. He was born November 18, 1920 in White County to the late Aud and Nettie (Goodman) Lawson. His marriage to Barbara Lawson in the home of Rev. Hall was on April 23, 1948, and she survives in Lafayette. Harold was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He was a lifelong farmer in the Buffalo and Headlee areas. He attended agriculture training classes through Purdue University. He sold DeKalb seed corn for twenty-five years and was director of Rochester Farmers Mutual Insurance also for twenty-five years. He had been a fifty year member of White Oak United Methodist Church where he served as trustee. He later transferred his membership to Stidham United Methodist Church in Lafayette. He was an active church member. He enjoyed his travels and had been in every state except North Dakota. He also enjoyed camping and wintering in Sebring, Florida. In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by a son, Greg (Dianna) Lawson of Logansport; four daughters, Cheryl Williams of Pensacola, FL, Susan (Tom) Puterbaugh of Lafayette, Sandy (Matt) Dillman of Trafalgar, IN, Christi (Randy) Lower of Lafayette; sister, Bernice Capper of Monticello; seventeen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three on the way. He was preceded in death by a sister Thelma Fross; brother, Kenneth Lawson; and a great grandson. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm, Thursday, July 21, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be at 10 am, Friday at the funeral home with Rev. David Inskeep of Stidham United Methodist Church officiating, and also his grandson, Mark Dillman.
