George H. Mullins

George H. Mullins, 63, of Monticello, passed away at 9:41 pm, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at I U Health White Memorial Hospital.He was born on July 22, 1954 in Jenkins, KY to the late Sidney "Sid" and Daisy (Johnson) Mullins who survives and resides in Wise, VA.He was a graduate of Pound High School in Pound, VA and worked for the Local 103 International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion, Eagles, and VFW Auxiliary all of Monticello. George enjoyed NASCAR, landscaping, mushroom and ginseng hunting, camping, and playing his 12 string guitar. Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren.In addition to his mother, Daisy of Wise, VA he is survived by his children, Janet (James) Shipp and Jason Mullins, both of Monticello; companion, Tina Novak of Monticello; siblings, Leroy (Jenny) Mullins of Big Stone Gap, VA, John Paul (Sherry) Mullins of Wise, VA, Debbie Ann Mullins of Wise, VA, Barbara (Larry) Hilton of Wise, VA, Redonna (Lynville) Bowman of Wise, VA, Shelby Jean (Greg) Roberts of Wise, VA, Betty Jo (Don) Tucker of El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Preston Tyler Mullins, Michael William Shipp, and Libby Driver Shipp; and his faithful toy poodle, Hailee.In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Aubrey Lynn Mullins.Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services celebrating George's life at 1:00 pm Monday, April 30, 2018 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating.Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the family for the benefit of his grandchildren.
