SERVICES TIMES SET Florence Vera Boomershine, 96, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Monticello, died at 3:30 pm, Monday, October 3, 2011, at An Angels Place Assisted Living of Austin Texas. She was born in Monon, Indiana on November 4, 1914 to the late Sylvester and Beatrice (Lutes) Kesler. She was married to Charles D. "Charlie" Boomershine for 57 years. Charlie preceded her in death November 12, 1993. Florence was a 1933 graduate of Monon High School. She was a homemaker and an active volunteer in the community. Mrs. Boomershine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello, where she was a deacon, an elder, and a teacher of bible study and Sunday school. Mrs. Boomershine also served on the building committee for the new church after it was destroyed in the tornado in 1974. She had lived in Monticello since 1937 and moved to Mesa, AZ in March of 1986. She was a member and past president of Tri-Kappa sorority, and the Monticello Art Association. She was involved in the Wednesday morning reading club in Monticello, and served on the Library Board and as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. She is survived by daughter, Karen Boomershine Guess of Austin, Texas; granddaughter Terri Gable of Austin, Texas, and grandsons Jeff Gable of Phoenix, Arizona, Bryan Boomershine of Chicago, Scott Boomershine of Chicago, Chris Boomershine of Indianapolis; and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son Garry Boomershine on May 21st, 1982 and by all her siblings, which include three brothers, Willis, Bill, and Richard Kesler; and her sister, Ruth Lerch. Visitation will be from 11 am until 1pm, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with the Presbyterian Deacons Prayer Circle at 11 am. Funeral Services will follow at 1pm, at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Albaum of the First Presbyterian officiating. Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, or to any Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
