Eugene 'Gene' Barney

Eugene L. "Gene" Barney, 84, of Monticello, died on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 3:10am at Whispering Pines Nursing Home. He was born April 17, 1925 in Gary, Indiana to the late Betty (Rubel)Barney. His marriage was to Virginia (Szalbierz) on November 5, in Chicago, IL, they had been married over 41 years. She survivies in Monticello He graduated from Englewood High School, Mr. Barney was a self-employed contractor. He was a merchant marine. Mr. Barney was a member of the AMVETS in Monticello. He is survived by his, 2 Sons, Steve Barney of Nashville, TN, Sam Barney of Nashville, TN; 2 Daughters, Denise Barney of Nashville, TN, Kathy Barney of Miami, FL; 2 Step Daughters, Barbara (Dr. Frank) Paul of Las Vegas, Nevada, Carol Kaczmarzwski of Chicago, IL; 2 Brothers, Fred (Madilyn) Barney of LaMesa, CA, Robert (Leda) Barney of Cedar Lake, IN; 2 Sisters, Sally Lucy of Brown County, IN, Shirley Maslanka of Crestwood, IL. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one step daughter, Sandy Griffith and step son, George Gawrys: Three Sisters, Linda Mack, Ruth Lowe and Janice. Services will be held at a later date.
