Erwin B. "Bernie" Cook, 77, of Monticello passed away at 11:04 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2009 , at White County Memorial Hospital . He was born November 12, 1931 in Kent , Michigan to the late Erwin B. and Mildred L.(Priebe) Cook, Sr. His marriage was to Melitta M. "Millie" Folkers on July 2, 1955 in Lenggries , Germany , and she survives. Bernie was a 1949 graduate of Union High School , Grand Rapids , MI He was a 1953 graduate of the former Indianapolis College of Mortuary Science. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1953-57, and was stationed in France . He was an embalmer. He had worked 20 years for Stinlinovich Palmer and Wiatrolik Funeral Home in Gary . He moved to Monticello in 1979 where he worked 13 years for the Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home from which he retired. After his retirement, he continued working for Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. He had served two terms as White County Coroner, and was a member of the Indiana Coroner Association. He was the current Union Township Trustee and was elected for two consecutive terms. He was a Past Noble Grand of the I.O.O.F. Lodge #107. He served as the I.O.O.F. Lodge Secretery for many years. He was a member and Past Master of Libanus #154 F & AM of Monticello . He enjoyed traveling. His first love was his wife Millie for over 52 years. Another love was his little grandson Joshua. He enjoyed his cats Sheeba and Tasha. Bernie left a smile on the face of everyone he met. Other survivors include: 3 Sons, Ronald G. (Connie) Cook of Scottsdale, Arizona, Robert J. (Tammy) Cook of Lockport, Erwin B. Cook, III. of Sacramento, CA; Daughter, Connie J. (David) Beller of Crown Point; Sister, Jaine (Marv) Kuzawa of Grand Rapids, MI; Sister-in law, Ann (Nick) Gillis of Valparaiso; 4 Grandsons, Davey, Brandon, Joshua, Peter; and a Granddaughter, Cara Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. An Odd Fellow Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Followed by a Masonic Service. Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.
