Emarene Abolt, 104, of Monticello, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at White Oak Health Campus.
She was born on April 29, 1920 in Ambia, IN to the late Frank J. and Lola B. (Cheney) Matthews. She married Harold W. Miller in Lafayette and he passed away on January 28, 1998. She married Warren G. Abolt in Jacksonville, FL and he passed away on August 7, 2002.
Emarene was a 1938 graduate of Boswell High School. She attended the Barnes School of Commerce in Denver, CO and also the University of Denver. She was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church. She worked as a self-employed accounting officer for 45 years. She did taxes for people privately into her early 90's. She enjoyed reading and cherished her family.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Miller of Monticello; sister, Wanda Rhodes of Boswell; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her children Bill Miller, Jane (and husband, Norman) Harmon, daughter-in-law, Sam Miller; and two grandsons-in-law; three grandsons; siblings, Berneil Fontaine, Betty VanMeter, and Arthur Boyd Matthews.
Private graveside services and burial will be in Boswell Cemetery, Boswell.
