Elsie Marie Smith

Elsie Marie Smith, 84, of Monticello, died at her residence. She was born April 22, 1925 at Chesterton, IN to the late Ernest and Edna (Pratt) Olson. Her marriage was to Walter L. Smith in 1944 at Valparaiso. He preceded her in death May 31, 1980. Elsie was a graduate of Chesterton High School and was a homemaker. She was an active member of New Hope Lutheran Church. She was a member of the White County Council for the Aging. She volunteered with the White County Food Pantry, and was Past President of White County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed latch hook and cross word puzzles. Survivors include a son, W. Tom (Carolyn) Smith of Otterbein; Four Grandchildren; and Four Great-Grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Monday, June 8 at New Hope Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Jim Ward officiating. Burial will be at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
