Robert John Madden MD was born on October 12, 1925 to John L and Esther Lentz Madden in Indianapolis, Indiana and passed away peacefully in his home at Lake Shafer, Indiana on March 28th, 2018. He was the eldest of four siblings: Richard, Lois and Patricia, all predeceased. Bob attended St Philip Neri grade school, Cathedral high school, Butler University and Indiana University Medical School. Prior to medical school, he served as a bombardier in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Kriner Madden on September 1, 1947 and had 8 children. Bob was a beloved general practitioner physician on the east side of Indianapolis for many years. In 1968, he became a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and practiced at St. Francis hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his children, Michael (Nancy), Steven (Jennifer), Karen (Jen), Jan (Mike), William (Erin), Thomas (Kyoko), Jeff (Laura) and Shea Ford; many grand and great grand children, sisters-in-law, Barbara Herron, Blanche Madden and Rita Jolley; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.The family sincerely thanks the many wonderful aides at Bright Star Care and Angels Senior Home Solutions and the compassionate nurses at Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their care and support. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. A Vigil Service will be at 3:45 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father David Rasner celebrating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobs honor to any of his alma maters or the Indiana Humane Society.
