Dorothy Mae McClean, 94, of Monticello, passed away at 7:20am, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at her residence.She was born on June 30, 1921 in Bedford to the late Theodore G. and Elizabeth (Tindle) Bell.On June 16, 1945 she married Clifford McClean in Kentucky. He passed away in May of 1971.Dorothy was a member of the Monticello Christian Church. After the age of 50, her first job was a school crossing guard for twenty years. She worked in home care for the elderly for fifteen years. Dorothy was a cashier for State and Savings Bank and head of the catalog department for at Sears and Roebuck, for thirteen years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was very active with the White County Food Pantry. Dorothy was president of White County AARP for four years. She was voted the senior citizen queen of White County and continued as a contestant at the State Fair. She is survived by two daughters, Pam Bossung of Reynolds and Sandy (Fritz) Gordner of Indianapolis; one son, Larry (Loretta) McClean of Paoli; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Bossung, Heather (Jose) Bossung Perez-Cruz, Jennifer (Hal) Bossung Norris, Adam (Natalie) Bossung, Windy Sue Anne McClean, Louis R. (Eliza) Gordner; and seven great grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Estille, Austin, and Norman Bell; and two sisters, Alma Hamilton and Anah Ligenfelter. Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of the funeral at 3pm on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Monticello Christian Church in Monticello with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating.Burial will follow at the Brookston I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
