Dorothy M. Snowberger, 90, of Monticello, passed away at 8:37 am, Thursday, September 25, 2014 at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. Dorothy was born on March 18, 1924 in Monticello to the late Fred Emmerson and Madge Larerne (Popejoy) Moore. On December 9, 1944, she married Harry Snowberger in Monticello, and he preceded her in death September 4, 1996. She was a Monticello High School graduate and worked as a Homemaker Liaison for the Department of Family and Children. She and her husband fostered 60 children over a 50 year period. She was also a member of the Child Protection Team. Dorothy was a member and taught Sunday School at Zion Bethel Church and had been a leader of the boys and girls club at the old Zion Bethel Church. She was a member of Crystal Chapter #165 OES and the I.U. White Memorial Hospital Auxilary. She volunteered at the White County Food Pantry and at the Welfare Department. She enjoyed toll painting, carving, crocheting, and making pot holders. She made many blankets which she donated to the hospital. She bowled on a senior league and she enjoyed playing cards, camping and eating out. She is survived by her children, Carmen "Mitzi" Felix of Greenfield, Barbara (Thomas) Weaver of Goshen, Harry "Ed" (Kay) Snowberger,II of Brookston, Wanda (Travis) Wright of Mulberry; sister, Neoma "Mo" (Harold) Hintzman of Monticello; sixteen grandchildren, Scott, Robert, Dwayne, Lori, Nathan, Angela, Andrea, Tiffany, Trista, Samantha, Marcus, William, Kristen, Jordan, Hannah, and Kaitlyn; thirty-six great- grandchildren and one on the way; and one great-great grandchild on the way. She was also preceded in death by son, Larry Douglas Snowberger and daughter-in-law, Mary Snowberger; infant daughter, Ona Jean Snowberger; son-in-law, Larry Felix; siblings, James Moore, Gloria Cosgray, Kathryn Miller, and Fred Moore, Jr.; and a grandson, Anthony. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Eastern Star Services will be 6:30 pm, Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Messer of Zion Bethel Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the White County Food Pantry or Zion Bethel Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
