Dorothy L. Lantz, age 88, of Monticello, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at her home with her daughter, Janie by her side.She was born in Monticello, Indiana on November 17, 1929 to Ray Baer and Ethel (McCully) Baer Downey. She married Robert L. Lantz in Monticello on February 5, 1950. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2012.She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947. She worked at Stultz Lumber Company in Monticello for 2 years, and at Epworth Preschool in Indianapolis for 7 years. As an active member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, she was secretary of the Methodist Women for 15 years and served various offices as a member of the Emma Stewart Circle for over 20 years.She was a member of the Lincolnlite Extension Homemakers Club and former member of the Holiday Extension Homemakers Club. She was a recipient of many ribbons at the White County Fair, especially in the pie contests.As a volunteer for the Monticello Library, she recorded obituaries for the genealogy department starting in 1997 until a few months ago.She enjoyed bridge, crossword puzzles, bridge, reading and bridge.Survivors include son, David (Lacey) Lantz of Langley, Washington and daughter, Janie Wilson, of Monticello, Indiana; sisters, Marie Lindstrand of Leesburg, Florida and Clara Godlove of Idaville; and sister-in-law Ruth Hoshaw of Tucson, AZ. Deceased are a daughter, Arlene Lantz; sisters Jean (Lynn) Bridge and Peggy (Lewis) Funk; and brothers-in-law, Carl Lindstrand, Bob Godlove, and Bob Hoshaw.Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Funeral services celebrating Dorothy's life will be 10:30am, Friday, December 29, 2017 am at the funeral home with Rev. Brian Beeks officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church capital campaign fund.Messages of condolence may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
