Doris B. Holverson, 86, of Monticello died at 10:10 am, Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. She was born September 21, 1925 in Yeoman to the late Ruey and Frances (Duncan) Viney. Her marriage was to Donald H. Holverson on December 25, 1945 in Monticello. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1987. She was a 1943 graduate of Delphi High School. Mrs. Holverson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello. She had worked as bookkeeper for Dye Lumber Co. for 16 1/2 years. She worked in the White County Recorders Office for 10 years and also the White County Clerks office from which retiried after 13 years. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Crystal Chapter No. 165 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Holverson was an avid golfer and was a two time Women's Club Champion first in 1969 and also in1970 at the Tippecanoe Country Club. She was a member and past president of Delta Theta Tau. Mrs. Holverson loved Purdue sports. She enjoyed playing bridge, shopping and fishing. She will always be remembered for her peanut brittle during the holidays. She is survived by a son, Donald Eric (Renee) Holverson of Delphi; brother, Robert Viney of Ft. Wayne; sister, Mary Lou (John) Leins of Fairfield, CA; two grandsons, Jeremy Moore of Lafayette, Nicholas Holverson of Delphi; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Larry) Adams of Medaryville, Heather Holverson of Delphi; three great grandsons; and two great granddaughters. She was also preceded in death by a brother Jess Viney. Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm, Sunday, October 2 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Delta Theta Tau service will be at 6pm followed by Presbyterian Prayer Circle at 7pm. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Albaum of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. cemetery in rural Monticello. Memorials may be made to the Monticello First Presbyterian Church.
