Donald L. Powell

Donald L. Powell, 82, of Monticello, passed away at 3:00 pm, Friday, March 23, 2018 at White Oak Health Campus.He was born on July 19, 1935 in Lafayette to the late Lloyd and Ethel (Jefferson) Powell. His marriage was to Janell Anne Miller on October 21, 1973 and she preceded him in death a little over two weeks prior on March 8, 2018.He served in the United States Army with Elvis Presley. He worked at Fairfield Manufacturing in Lafayette from which he retired in 1990.He was a member of the AmVets and the VFW both of Monticello. He enjoyed boating and was also a car and boat enthusiast. Surviving are his brothers-in-law and sisters in-law, Leslie (Judy) Miller of Oregon, David Miller of Lebanon, Alan (Ann) Miller of Lafayette, and Glenna (Mike) Cole of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.A double memorial visitation for Don and Janell will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Private family burial for Don and Janell will be in St. Bonifice Cemetery in Lafayette.Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello Funeral Honor Guard with envelopes available at the funeral home.Messages of condolence may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
