Donald L. Adams

Donald L. Adams, 86 of Delphi died at 8:39 pm, on Monday, July 1, 2013 at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. He was born in the family home in Monon on May 21, 1927 to the late Elbert L. and Clyde (Cooley) Adams. He married Gwendolyn Inez "Inie" Vest on May 28, 1954 in Logansport. She preceded him in death on October 29, 1984. He then married the former Nancy (Coomey) Kramer on December 27, 1985 at the Monticello Christian Church and she survives in Delphi. He was a member of the Sitka Baptist Church in Monticello and graduated from Monon High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the Monon Railroad for 37 years from which he retired. Donald was a member of the American Legion and OLD RAILS, a retired Railroaders organization. He was also a member of Libanus Lodge #154 F & AM for over 50 years as well as a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis. He enjoyed fishing and loved sports. He was a longtime Purdue fan and avid White Sox fan. He also enjoyed woodcrafting and loved mowing. He was very proud of his first and only great-grandson Trystan. He is also survived by two sons, Michael (Elizabeth) Peppas of Flat Rock, NC, Bradford (Joni) Adams of Monticello; two daughters, Jackie (Tom) Cobb of Monticello, Jill Adams of Chesterton; two stepsons, Steve Daniels of Delphi, Ron (Dusty) Daniels of Delphi; two stepdaughters, Becky (Lonnie) Shuler of Crawfordsville, Kelly Daniels of Delphi; two sisters, Marge Harner of California, June Jacks of Battleground; granchildren, Jason (Nikki) Adams, Jacob (Jamie) Adams, Cody Cobb, Micah Cobb; ten step grandchildren, one great-grandson Trystan; and two step great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Pluimer; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Adams. Visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm, Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be at 1 pm with funeral services immediately following with Dr. Jim Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F Cemetery in rural Monticello with full military rites. Memorial donations may be given to Sitka Baptist Church.
