Donald J. Rollheiser, Sr., 83, of Monticello, died at 10:04 am, Friday, September 14, 2012 at St Elizabeth East Hospital of Lafayette. He was born March 14, 1929 in Chicago to the late Joseph and Veronica (Sage) Rollheiser. On April 9, 1994, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello, he married Patricia Baker Dekker, and she survives. He graduated parochial school in Chicago and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a successful businessman and over the years had owned several auto related businesses. He also owned several rental properties including Rollheiser Properties in Monticello. He has lived in Monticello for many years, loyally attending Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He enjoyed tennis. He liked people and was well liked. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. He is also survived by a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Ellis of Frankfort, Illinois; son, Don (Lisa) Rollheiser, Jr. of Palos Park, Illinois; 3 step-sons, Sean Dekker of Monticello, Brian Dekker of Lafayette, Flynn Dekker of Dallas, Texas; step-daughter, Erika O'Brien of West Lafayette; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bob and Jack Rollheiser; and a daughter, Kathy Rarey. Visitation will be from 9 am until 11 am, Tuesday, September 18 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 am, Tuesday, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father Gerald Borawski and Father James R. Goodrum concelebrating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to any food pantry located within White County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
