Donald A. Murphy Sr.

Donald A. "Murph" Murphy, Sr., 72, of Monticello, died at 9:49 am, Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born July 9, 1940 in Kokomo to the late George E. and Madge (Gilbert) Murphy. His first marriage was to Adele Godlove and she survives. He later married the former Nancy D. (Citti) Criswell in their Monticello home and she resides in Monticello. He was a 1958 graduate of Fair Oaks High School and was a counter salesman for NAPA auto parts. He also worked at Big A, and owned and operated Town and Country for 10 years. Mr. Murphy also was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the American Legion, AMVETS, VFW and the Redmens Lodge all of Monticello. He enjoyed woodworking and liked his PBR. He loved music, but not country music. He is also survived by 2 daughters, Sonja (Dennis ) of Phoenix, AZ, Lonna (Brent) of Phoenix, AZ; son, Donnie (Jill) of Hendersonville, NC; 5 stepdaughters, Tammy (Brent) of Phoenix, AZ, Cathy (Moe) of Phoenix, AZ, Tina (Mike) of Lebanon, Diana (Rich) of St. Louis, Carmin (Tim) of Monticello; 4 stepsons , Jerry of West Virginia, Rick of St. Louis, Bobby (Deb) of St. Cloud, FL, Mike (Nina) of Fort Myers; Diana (Rich) of St. Louis; 4 brothers, Ray (Patty), Bobby of Rensselaer, Dale (Karen) of Morroco, Mike (Rhonda) of Rensselaer; Sister, Linda (Tom) of Rensselear; 2 sisters in law, Nancy of Rochester, Elgie of Effingham, IL; 6 grandchildren; 25 step grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. He is prececed in death by a sister, Betty Joe and 2 brothers, Melvin and Ralph. Visitation will be from 4pm to 8 (EST), Friday, December 28 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10am (EST) with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Rensselaer.
