Debra G. Weirick (RN, MSN, CFNP), 73, of Monticello, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at University Place in West Lafayette.
She was born on August 5, 1947 in Corydon, KY to the late Franklin K. "FK" and Eva B. (Frye) Sisson. She was married to Thomas L. Weirick, the love of her life, for 53 years. They were wed on August 4, 1968, at the Christian Church in Flora.
Deb was a graduate of Carroll High School. She became an RN, and worked at Home Hospital in the ER for twenty-three years. She went on to get her Bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan, then earned her Master's in NP from Purdue University with honors from Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She worked as a nurse practitioner at Flora Family Physicians, back in her home town which she truly enjoyed. She later moved to Monticello and worked at IU Health until her retirement in 2020.
She was an active member of the Flora First Christian Church for many years before moving to Monticello. She was so happy to be a nurse and loved the relationships she established with her many patients over the years.
She was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church for the past several years and enjoyed the transition to living and working in Monticello.
Deb enjoyed reading on her porch, vacations at the beach and holidays with her family. She was loved by many, cherished her family and friends, and spoiled her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Tom, she is survived by her children, Jason (Shannon) Weirick of Westfield, Ashley Weirick of Monticello, and Amy Weirick of Monticello; grandchildren, Ally, Emme, Malia, Ethan, Jonah, Natalee, and Avery; brother, Scott D. (Michelle) Sisson of Flora; special niece, Kelly (Lonnie) Dardeen of West Lafayette; nephew, Adam (Jill) Sisson of Fowler; niece, Taryn Sisson of Flora, grand nieces and nephews, Hunter, Molly, Casey, and Cory.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Allison R. Weirick and sister-in-law, Jenny Sisson.
Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello and one hour prior to services at the church.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 am at Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Beeks and Rev. Pamela Ditson-McCall officiating.
Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.
Memorial contributions may be given to Monticello United Methodist Church, http://www.monticelloumchurch.org/giving. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home and church.
Following the CDC Covid-19 guidelines, fully vaccinated people are not required to wear a mask. Those not vaccinated are encouraged to wear a mask.
