D. Mark Reed, 81, of Monticello died at 4:50 am, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 25, 1932 in Saginaw, MI to the late Herman and Josephine (Moyers) Reed. He married the former Sherry (Moran) Booher on June 15, 1971 in Kankakee, IL. She survives. He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. He retired as a supervisor in 1987 from Chrysler Transmission in Kokomo. Following retirement he moved to Monticello where he retired from Monon Trailor in 2003. He also delivered for Rockey's Pizza. He was a member of the Monticello VFW and the American Legion in Kokomo. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry and cabinet making. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is also survived by 7 children, Mark D. Reed (Kathy Riley) of Asheboro, N.C., Robert Reed of Marco Island, FL, Jay Reed of Monticello, Regina Cagle of Bloomington, Deborah Damron of Nashville, TN, Michelle Kelley of Kokomo, and Kerri (Bryan) Fischer of Monticello; one sister, Beverly (Cebrun) Mudford of Arkansas; one brother, Bill Reed of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers-in-law, Darrell (Karen) Moran of Decatur, IL, and Scott (Kathy) Moran of Scottsdale, AZ; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his grandson Zacc Fischer; one brother; and one sister. Visitation will be from 4pm - 8pm, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1pm, Friday, May 17, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Russell officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Kokomo. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Twin Lakes School Corporation to benefit Tina Haworth's Special Education Classroom. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
