Connie S. Cascales, 64, of Monticello died at 12:47 pm, Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at her residence. She was born January 28, 1945 at Kirkwood, Missouri to the late Lester V. and Thelma (Lawson) Fross. Her marriage of 32 years was to Charles Cascales on November 23, 1973 at Long Beach, California. He resides in Portland, Oregon. She was a graduate of Monticello High School and earned her Associate Degree from Ball State University. She was the former White County Historical Museum Director and presently served as the White County Historian. She had been an accounts payable executive in Anaheim, CA. She enjoyed traveling and made many trips to Egypt, Turkey, Greece, and many countries in Europe. She had lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 1976-1978. Her passion was Native American History. She had participated in the repatriation of many Native Americans, and was an honorary member of a Native American Tribe. She enjoyed antiques. She loved her dog Emma and her 4 cats, Oscar, Bob, Peaches, and Xanaclea. Survivors include a daughter, Nicole Cascales, of Virginia; sister, Judy Cox, of North Carolina; and a granddaughter, Eva Cascales, of Virginia Visitation will be from 10 am until 11 am, Saturday, December 19 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home Graveside funeral services will follow at 11:15 am, at Hughes Cemetery with Gordon Denton officiating.
