Col. Richard H. Myers Richard L. Myers, 64, of Oceanside, California died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in his home after a brave battle with brain cancer. His family was by his side. He was born December 22, 1946 in Lebanon to the late Gordon and Leta Myers. He married his high school sweetheart Pamela Voorhis on September 14, 1968, and she survives in Oceanside. He was a 1965 graduate of Lebanon High School, and also a graduate from Troy State University in Alabama. He received his Masters Degree from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. He enjoyed photography, NASCAR Races, Restoring Antique Cars, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is also survived by a son Christopher (Tara) Myers; daughter, Carrie Myers; three grandchildren, Bela, Amelie, and Samantha; step-mother, Jean Myers of Lebanon; brother, Dr. Terry (Dr. Marian) Myers of Texas; five step-brothers, Bernard Hinton of Lebanon, Lyn Jackson of Indianapolis, Danny Jackson of Indianapolis, Allen Jackson of Nevada, and Rex Jackson of Montana; three step-sisters, Cathie Copp White of Florida, Connie Copp of Lebanon, and Carol Myers Jones of Lebanon; three sisters-in-law, Brenda Metcalf, Rhonda Stangle, and Angela Dyer all of Monticello; father-in-law, Harry (Pat) Voorhis of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by his step-father, Rex Jackson; and mother-in-law Jean Voorhis. Funeral services were handled by Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside, California on March 23, 2011. Burial with full military honors followed at Eternal Hills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
