Clyde H. Sickler, 83, of Monticello, passed away at 5:26 am, April 13, 2014, at Saint Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on May 27, 1930 to the late Cecil F. and Laura C. (Kellenburger) Sickler in Guernsey, White County. He attended and graduated from Reynolds High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. On August 26, 1950 he married Shirley Hornback in White County, and she preceded him in death September 21, 1999. He co-owned Hornback-Sickler Corporation with his brother-in-laws, the late David C. Hornback, Jr., and Earl Hornback. Clyde retired in 1985 following a successful career with the company's bridge building projects. He was especially proud of the Norway Bridge construction. Clyde was a long time member of White County Sheriff's Merit Board, Past Master and member of Libanus Lodge #154 F&AM, Crystal Chapter OES #165, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, White County Shrine Club, American Legion Post #81, VFW Post #2231, Amvets Post #91, Monticello Good Fellows and the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a former deacon. He was also chairman of the building committee for the First Presbyterian Church after the fire. Clyde is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Dedaker-Jones (husband, Steve Jones) of Reynolds, and Sharon (husband, Joe, Sr.) Broussard of Monticello; four grandsons, Joseph, Jr (wife, Shayla) Broussard, Christopher Broussard, Alexander Broussard, Riley Dedaker and step grandson, Lance Jones; two brothers, Russell (wife, Bethel) Sickler, and Floyd (wife, Norma Jean) Sickler. Also surviving are Carol Boehlke, a very special caring friend; and his good friends, Herb Bengston, Jerry Brown, and Robert Guy. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Trisha L. Dedaker; four sisters, Agnes, Alma, Edna and Ruby; two brothers, Clarence and Ross; and son-in-law, Gary Dedaker. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, April 18, 2014 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Presbyterian Deacons Prayer Circle will be at 3:45pm Friday at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be at 7pm, Friday also at the funeral home immediately followed by a Shrine Walk Through. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Saturday, at the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello with Rev. Thomas Albaum, officiating. Clyde will be laid to rest beside his beloved Shirley in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Full military rites will be rendered at the cemetery.
