Clarice Alma Wortman 90, of Monticello, formerly of Reynolds, passed away at 7:58 am Saturday, March 15, 2014 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello. She was born February 17, 1924 in French Lick (Norton), Indiana, to the late Vesta Emmett and Mary Rhoda (Drabing) Parsons. She was the 11th of twelve children. She married James William Wortman July 5, 1946 in Petersburg, Indiana. He preceded her in death September 1, 2001. The couple met in 1941 at the "Free Show" at the Reynolds Park. They built two homes in Reynolds and lived there since 1946. She was a homemaker and worked at Bryan Manufacturing Company in Monticello during the 1950s and early 1960s. Later she worked many years at the Parkview Motel in Reynolds. She and her husband, James had owned and remodeled a home at Cripple Creek, Colorado, where they spent many summers. She lived the past three years at White Oak Health Campus. Her grandson, Jason Wortman now resides at her former home in Reynolds. In her youth, she was a member of Cane Creek Christian Church in rural French Lick and later a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello. She enjoyed cooking and canning, traveling, reading, keeping journals, attending steam and power shows, and working puzzle books. Surviving are her children, Nancy Darlene (Jerry) Kyburz, of Wolcott, Thomas R. Wortman, of Delphi and Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Debra Candice Daniels of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; four grandsons, Duane E. (Tara) Kyburz, of West Lafayette, Phillip Lee (Sasha) Kyburz (Sasha), of Wolcott, Dion H. (Sarah) Daniels, of Lafayette, Jason Reed Wortman (partner, Liz McTigue) of Reynolds; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Sue (Patrick) Trahan, Greenwood; seven great-grandsons, Trenton Kyburz, Hunter Kyburz, and Steven Conley all of Wolcott, Jack Daniels, of Monticello, Bret Alan Northrup, Alec Chayton Northrup both of Greenwood, and Keagan Lane Trahan, of Iowa; three great-granddaughters, Calista Kyburz, Gracie Kyburz both of Wolcott, and Mackenzie Elizabeth Trahan of Greenwood; and two great-grandchildren are on the way. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Her sister, the late Thelma Alspaugh of Monticello, and brother, the late James Parsons of Burnettsville were both locally known. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm (EDT), Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper-Funeral of Monticello. Funeral Services will be at 10 am (EDT), Friday at the funeral home.
