Charles V. 'Chuck' Alma

Charles V. "Chuck" Alma, 97, of Monticello, passed away at 6:30 pm, Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Monticello Healthcare Center.He was born on December 15, 1918 in Delphi to the late William H. Alma and Stella (Retherford) Alma. On May 18, 1940 he married Opal McCloud in White County and she preceded him in death on September 16, 2011.Chuck lived in White County all of his life. He also farmed for sometime. He had been a carpenter and builder most of his life retiring from Voigt Construction in 1978.Surviving are his children, Lawrence (wife, Lillian) Alma of Arvada, CO, Jerry (wife, Joan) Alma of Monticello, Brenda Sorrell of Selma, AL, and Warren (wife, Connie) Alma of Montpelier; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law, Vivian Alma, Lottie Alma, and Helen McCloud.Preceding him in death were his siblings, Lewis, Hazel, Mary, Anna, John, Roy, Ralph, and Bob.Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Funeral services celebrating Chuck's life will be at 10:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home with Tom Haynie of the Buffalo Christian Church officiating.Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
