Charles F. "Charlie" Capes, 66, of Monticello, formerly of Michigan died at 8:40 am, Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Home Hospital. He was born on April 25, 1943 in Idaville to the late Foster Capes and Florence (Cutshall) Capes Sterrett, who survives in Plymouth. Mr. Capes retired from Electrolux in Michigan. He had also worked as a heavy equipment operator and also drove a semi truck. Mr. Capes served in the National Guard. He had been a member of the Eastlawn United Methodist Church. Mr. Capes was a member of AMVETS Post 91, VFW 2231 and the American Legion of Logansport. He loved hunting and Nascar. Dale Earnhardt, Sr. was his favorite driver. He loved hunting in the U.P. with his buddies. He is survived by a Son, Tim Capes of Brookston; 3 Daughters, Michelle Nethercutt of West Lafayette, Cindy (Chris) Keith of Monticello, Danita (John) Greene of Greenville, MI; Brother, Ralph Capes(Companion Stephanie Metsker) of Argos; 13 Grandchildren, 4 Great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his sister Mary Watkins. Visitation will be held from 4pm until 8pm, Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Ross Terry of the Twin Lakes Southern Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O.F.
