Catharine A. Sutton Shafer

Catharine A. Sutton Shafer, 100, of Monticello, died at 12:20 am, Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Whispering Pines. She was born November 28, 1909 at New Augusta, Indiana the late Bert and Stella (Brannon) Sutton. Her marriage was to James J. Shafer on May 29, 1937 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death October 21, 1984. She was a 1929 Graduate of New Augusta High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, and also a member of Rainbow at the church. She is survived by three nieces and three nephews. She is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Sutton; sisters, Verle Wiggam and Florence Moran; and a niece. Visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm, Wednesday, August 25, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Rev. Brian Beeks of the Monticello United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello.
