Carroll J. 'Mac' Mccartney

Carroll J. "Mac" McCartney, 91 of Monticello, died on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at his residence. He was born August 22, 1921 in Aurora to the late James and Thelma (Webb) McCartney. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and worked as a laborer in several factories as well as doing mechanical work. He enjoyed fishing, all sports, and playing cards. He is survived by 2 sons, Jeffery (Sharon) McCartney of Opelikia, AL, Dennis McCartney of Brentwood, TN; a daughter, Gayla Sue Thompson of Newport News, VA; a brother, Bill (Ollie M.) McCartney of Aurora; and a sister, Hilda Gardner of Aurora. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Russell and Ronnie McCartney; and a sister Betty Smith. Visitation will be from 9am until 10am Friday, December 21, 2012 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10am Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Ryan Bailey of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at 2pm at the Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana with full military rites rendered.
