Calvin T. Laffoon, 84, of Monticello, died at 4:32 pm, Friday, February 12, 2010 at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis. He was born on May 8, 1925 at Fair Oaks, Indiana to the late Edward and Eddie (Kielmeir) Laffoon. He married Geraldine "Gerry" Duever on February 14, 1948 in Valparaiso and she survives in Monticello. He is also survived by a companion Phyllis Cadwallader of Monticello. He is a 1943 graduate of Mt. Ayre High School. Mr. Laffoon was a lineman for NIPSCO, retiring in 1983 after 31 1/2 years. He served in the United States Navy during WW II where he was stationed in the South Pacific as a radio man 3rd class aboard the USS Windsor. Mr. Laffoon was a member of the American Legion. He had been a member of the Conservation Club formerly of Reynolds. He loved farming. He also loved deer hunting, fishing, and crow shooting from which he received many awards and trophies. He also enjoyed pitching horseshoes and helping others. He is also survived by a son, Dennis (Brenda) Laffoon of Ft. Wayne; 6 daughters, Carol (Terry) Foreman of Macy, Donna Gray of Lafayette, Deborah Robinson of Idaville, Tabby (Ed) Kohley of Monticello, Melissa (Shawn) Downey of Monticello, Tanya Cadwallader (Husband Jeff Kremer) of Kokomo; 4 brothers, Wayne (Vivian) Laffoon of Elkhart, Mike Laffoon of Morocco, Pat (Jan) Laffoon of Middleberry, Gene (Skip) Laffoon of Mississippi; sister, Katherine George of Rensselaer; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Ward of New Hope Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello.
