Bonnietta 'Bonnie' Carter

Bonnietta "Bonnie" Barnes Carter, 94, of Burnettsville, passed away at 4:00 pm, Monday, August 8, 2016 at her residence.She was born on March 26, 1922 in Royal Center to the late David and Ethel (Suiter) Weaver. She married Henry M. Barnes, in Monticello on February 10, 1942 and he preceded her in death July 9, 1983. She later married Amos Carter Jr. on July 19, 1998 at the Burnettsville First Baptist Church and he preceded her in death March 6, 2008.She was a 1941 graduate of Royal Center High School. She worked at Bryan Manufacturing and then RCA from which she retired.Bonnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burnettsville where she taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and was head of the nursery for more than 29 years. She was very involved and community minded in Burnettsville where she served on the town board and was involved with the after school program once held at the Beehive.She was a proud homemaker enjoying canning, sewing, caring for her children, and later her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her travels to California, Mississippi, Las Vegas, Florida, Oregon, and Colorado. One of her favorite pass times was spent doing word search books.Surviving are her children, Myron Barnes of Monticello, Carolyn J. (David) Criswell of Idaville, John Barnes of Burnettsville, and Sandra Barnes of Logansport; stepchildren, Carmen (Dave) Simmons of Selma, Carol Brookshire of Monticello, and Charles (Colleen) Carter of Fort Wayne; her siblings, Donnie (Elsie) Weaver of Rochester, Franklin (Nancy) Weaver of Royal Center, Leoto Green of Bend, Oregon, Alberta Grable of Star City, and Irene Lawson of Royal Center; twelve grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren eight great-great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul Barnes; daughter, Judith Holmes; brothers, David, Walter, and Lloyd Weaver, and sister, Dorothy Veach.Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services celebrating Bonnie's life at 1:00 pm Friday, August 12, 2016 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Pastor Paul Scott officiating.Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the Burnettsville First Baptist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.Messages of condolence may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
