Billy R. Brandon, 71, of Monticello, passed away at 1:20 pm, Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at his residence. He was born on January 8, 1943 in Bragg City, MO to the late Bob "Buddy" and Katherine (Tate) Brandon. On July 2, 1968 he married Helen Shook in Chicago and she preceded him in death February 18, 2006. Bill worked as a mil right carpenter with Federated Metals formerly of East Chicago from which he retired as a foreman. After he retired from Federated Metals, he operated a gentleman's farm in Wheatfield. He later settled in Monticello and worked at the Monticello Eagles Lodge as the bar manager from which he retired. He was a member of the Monticello Eagles where he served as BINGO chairman, lodge treasurer, and was a past trustee. He was a proud recipient of the Monticello Eagle of the Year Award. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood working, and traveling. He also enjoyed watching western and science fiction movies. He is survived by his children, Barry (Wola) Shook of Merritt Island, FL, Shannon (Robert) Singleton of Guntersville, AL, Chris (Colleen) Brandon of Monticello, Albert Ray Brandon of Reedsburg, WI; four brothers, Harold (Kathy) Brandon of Monticello, John Brandon, Bobby (Becky) Brandon, Richard (Ruth) Brandon; three sisters, Barbara Wylie, Glenda (Donny) Forbs, Sheila (Denver) Haun; and seven grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by daughters, Katherine Shook and Paddy Brandon; and a brother, Terry Brandon. Visitation will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home from 11am until the time of the Eagles memorial service at 1pm, Saturday, April 5, 2014. Funeral services will commence immediately following the Eagles memorial service with Bill Tully officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
